Clinical Evaluation Of Hemodynamics after Etomidate Induction for Adrenocortical Insufficiency Compared With Propofol In Off Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Dr Nagre Amarja S

Abstract :

Etomidate is a short–acting intravenous anesthetic agent. It has rapid onset of action and safe cardiovascular risk profile. Etomidate induced

adrenocortical insufficiency is dose dependent and reversible. The cortisol levels has been correlated with etomidate induced hypotension. We
considered hypotension as a surrogate for reduced cortisol production.Aim of our study was to compare hemodynamics with 2 dosages of
etomidate and propofol and increase in inotrope and vasopressor requirement within 24 hours.
