Abstract :

•Overall etiology is varied in cases of young stroke. The major causes do not differ from those in the older counterparts; it is only the relative frequency of causes, which is not same. •Haemorhagic stroke is less prevalent in young patients & hypertension is the lead cause of the same. •Our study increments known vascular factors in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke in young patients, raising the possibilities that accelerated atherosclerosis is the underlying substrate, rather than rarer etiologies found in these patients. •Our finding suggest that smoking cessation, identification and treatment of elevated blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia are critical measures for preventing ischemic stroke in young
