Abstract :

Background: Fractures of the distal humerus account for 0.5% to 7% of all fractures, and 30% of elbow fractures. Methods: The present study consisted of 26 cases of either sex with fracture of distal end of humerus. In half of the patients the fixation was done with reconstruction plates and in another half the fixation was done with pre contoured locking plates after reduction. All patients were examined clinically and radiologically at three weeks interval till the union occurred. Each patient completed a comprehensive written questionnaire regarding functional capabilities, residual symptoms and existing disabilities. Results:Anatomically Precontoured locking plate system is useful in providing stable fixation and better outcome for distal end humerus fractures and facilitating early postoperative rehabilitation.
