Abstract :

Aim: To compare serum ADA and its association with serum uric acid in chronic liver disease. Material and method: The study was conducted in Department of Biochemistry in association with the Department of Gastroenterology & General Medicine of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur. The study subjects were divided into two groups i.e. CLD patients (n= 50) and Control group (n= 50, healthy subjects of comparable age and sex). Parameters estimated were SGOT, SGPT, ALKP, Total Bilirubin, Total Protein, Serum Uric Acid and Serum Adenosine Deaminase. Serum ADA and Serum Uric Acid along with liver function tests were estimated by colorimetric method on fully automated analyzer VITROS 5600. Results: A significant increase in levels of serum adenosine deaminase was found in cases than the control group (P value 0.00). In present study elevated serum uric acid was found in cases due to increased tissue damage in liver disease. Conclusion: The present study suggests that increased serum ADA is associated with increased serum uric acid in patients with CLD
