Consumer Awareness about Convenience Food Among Working and Non–Working Women

Abstract :

Convenience food is the result of modern technological advances in the field of food processing, preservation techniques and the invention of various newer food additives. Convenience food minimise the working time but it doesn’t save us from consuming high preservatives, extra sodium and hydrogenated fats. The present study aimed to identified the factors responsible for awareness towards convenience food among women from Raipur city. The present study was carried out on 100 women (50 working and 50 non–working). The study was based on survey method and the questions are related with awareness of consumer regarding the consumer act and convenience food. The study reveals that 72% working and 94% non–working women were know that consumption of convenience food may leads to obesity and cancer like diseases. 68% working and 74% non –working women were aware about the nutritive value and weight of food product. They prefer to see all the information written on the packet, like the date of expiry, manufacture date and other.
