Pramod Kumar Nigam, Pallavi Nigam Sethi

Abstract :

The novel corona virus (2019–nCoV) is presenting a severe global challenge to health care. The most common presenting symptoms of corona virus disease (COVID–19) are cough, fever, and shortness of eath. Diarrhea was uncommon Abnormal radiologic findings are observed. There are regional variations in the mortality rates, ranging from 1.4 – 3.4%. Dermatologists must also work with the aim to slow the spread of the virus and try to keep illness at bay so that the health care system is not overburdened. Triage, hand hygiene, N–95 masks, and coordination following local infection control policies are essential. Dermatology practices as vectors for COVID–19 transmission has been suggested and a call for an immediate cessation of non–emergent dermatology visits is made. Hand washing and social distancing are the mainstays of prevention in the absence of any targeted therapy or vaccine to stop the spread of Covid–19. Remdesivir and Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are presently being explored as Therapeutic Options for COVID–19 Patients. Currently, studies are underway looking at Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) prophylaxis.
