Materials and Methods: A cross–sectional descriptive study in a cervical cancer screening camp in a primary health center at Srikakulam  district was carried out in a total of 1082 patients who underwent Pap smear examination. Results tabulated. Results: 166 (15.34%) revealed  epithelial cell abnormality. LSIL, HSIL and squamous cell carcinoma was more common in women with age of marriage < 19 years, abortion  more than two times and low socioeconomic status.  Conclusions: A raised prevalence of epithelial cell abnormality reflects the lack of awareness about cervical cancer screening and underusers  of cytological screening programme.
