Abstract :
Epicardial fat is a metabolically active organ that shares the same blood supply as myocardium and increased amounts of fat around the heart is an independent predictor for CVD. In the present study we correlated the thickness of the epicardial fat with the severity of CAD assessed by Gensini score. In this study 101 patients were taken for the study ,out of which 50 were control and 51 were cases. Increase amount of epicardial fat thickness is associated with the increased severity of CAD and with the traditional risk factors like BMI, LDL and total cholesterol.
