Abstract :
A cross–sectional study was carried out to study the correlation of Hand grip strength with length, eadth and span of dominant hand in male and female patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus aged 40 to 60 years. Participants were assessed for Hand grip strength using Jamar handheld, measuring tape was used to assess Hand length, eadth and span of the dominant hand. Results of this study demonstrated that a fair correlation was seen for hand grip strength with hand length for male and female population whereas Hand span correlated fairly in males and weakly in females; hand eadth correlated weakly in both gender diabetic population. The study concludes that hand length has a better correlation with hand grip strength in both gender patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus than hand eadth and hand span.
