Abstract :

Pyogenic granuloma is one of the inflammatory hyperplasias seen in the oral cavity. This term is a misnomer because the lesion is unrelated to infection and in reality, arises in response to various stimuli such as low–grade local irritation, traumatic injury or hormonal factors. Pyogenic granuloma is also referred to as Crocker and Hartzell’s disease, pregnancy tumor, granuloma pediculatum benignum, benign vascular tumor and vascular epulis. The most frequently involved site is the maxillary gingiva, and mostly seen in second or third decade of life in women. This paper highlights a case report of crocker and hartzell’s disease seen in a 27–year old male patient which is a rare presentation as this condition is more prevalent in females.
