Distraction Aids in Paediatric Dentistry

Abstract :

Distraction is a useful technique of diverting the patient’s attention from what may be perceived as an unpleasant procedure. This enables decreased perception of unpleasantness and averting negative or avoidance behaviour. A short eak given to patient during a stressful procedure can be an effective distraction before trying more advanced behavior–guidance techniques. This review emphasizes on how dentists help children cope with dental treatment by using different distraction aids.
