Abstract :

As a village of farmers and herders in Burkina Faso, Safi has a strong dynamics of land use that raises questions about its sustainability. ?e objective of this work is to characterize the dynamics of land use between 1955 and 2010 in relation to those of climate and demographic. ?e methodology is based around the literature review, photogrammetry, geographic information systems, and data analysis. ?e land use is characterized by a reduction of natural ecosystems by more than 50% between 1955 in 2010. ?e impact of demography is characterized by a tripling of cultivated area and those of climate by using more of the lowlands as agricultural area. ?e solutions recommended to the sustainability the agro–system of Safi are the intensification of production systems, the improving of soil fertility management, the using of improved varieties and the training for farmers
