J Balamurugan, M Ravichandran, P T Nithiya

Abstract :

Green Economy is a global call. Every nation endeavors to achieve this without compromising the imperatives of economic development. Sanitation is indispensible for enhancing human well being and in turn productivity of economic agents. The plight of major chunk of Indian population with little access to toilet facilities is deplorable. Ecological Sanitation (Eco–san) in this milieu assumes great importance. Eco–san exemplifies how even human wastes can also be converted into manure with cost effectiveness. Authentic information is engaged to prove the point that ecological sanitation is essential in accomplishing green economy. This paper focuses on the eco–san case experience of Tamilnadu.
