Effect of early 10 hour time restricted eating on pre–obese and obese diabetic patients.

Dr. Sankalp Kumar Tripathi

Abstract :

In time restricted eating a person eats daily within a narrow period of time and fast for rest of the hours. Various studies had found that the cardio–metabolic health benefits of time restricted eating were more prominent if it is shifted to the early hours of the day. To confirm the health benefits of early time restricted eating, we took 38 diabetic patients having a BMI more than 25. They were kept under early 10 hour time restricted eating for 12 weeks. Their body weight, BMI, blood pressure, HbA1c, fasting & postprandial glucose level and lipid profile was compared with their previous one. There was significant reduction in systolic blood pressure, HbA1c, fasting and postprandial glucose level. Reduction in body weight, BMI, diastolic blood pressure and lipid profile was not statistically significant. The study concludes that there is reduction of systolic blood pressure, HbA1c level, fasting and postprandial glucose level after 12 weeks of early 10 hour window time restricted eating in preobese and obese diabetic patients.
