EFFECT OF pH ON 4AMINOSALICYLIC ACID : αCD/ HPαCD INCLUSION COMPLEXES
A. Glory Punitha, J. Prema Kumari
Abstract :
The characteristics of host – guest complexation between 4– Aminosalicylic acid with α–CD / HPα–CD at pH~2 and pH~7 were investigated by spectrometric method. In pH~2 the absorption is shifted to longer wavelength than pH~7. As the concentration of α–CD / HPα–CD increases, the emission wavelength is bathochromically shifted for both the pH . The study reveals that in both pH 4–ASA forms 1:1 inclusion complex. Benezi– Hildeand plot confirms that 1:1 stoichiometric ratio was present in the inclusion complex. The association constant value is higher at pH~2 for HPα–CD . This confirms that at pH~2, 4–ASA was tightly included in the HPα–CD cavity than α –CD .
