Effects of Monosodium glutamate on Biological Systems (Review)

Abstract :

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is one of the world’s most extensively used food additives used in meats, poultry,seafood, snacks, soups and stews.MSG produces a flavour that cannot be provided by other foods. Most of the studies have been done on animals which have shown that MSG has Neurotoxic effects in ain, obesity ,metabolic defects, “Chinese restaurant syndrome“ and harmful effects on sex organs. In humans the toxic effect of MSG has not been much reported.
