Efficacy of single eight color Euro flow screening tube (ALOT) in the diagnosis of lymphoid and non-lymphoid acute leukemia - GCRI experience.

Abstract :

Aim: Differential diagnosis of Acute leukemia is very important to treat leukemia patients, Immunophenotyping of acute leukemia is a key factor for diagnosis of acute leukemia. Expensive antibodies is main factor for high cost of immunophenotyping testing. We aim to analyse euroflow guided eight color ALOT screening panel in acute leukemia patients, and create an algorithm approach to diagnose acute leukemia efficiently. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 781 consecutive cases of acute leukemia within the last year and analyse immunophenotype, blast distribution patterns in the CD45/SSC panel, with the morphology. Results: Our results show that more than 90% of the acute leukemias can be initially diagnose into AML or ALL, based on eight color ALOT screening panel the blast distribution patterns in the CD45/SSC panel and morphology. Each group was then further analyzed with tailored AML, B or T ALL panel. Conclusion: The algorithmic approach with could maintain diagnostic accuracy while significantly reducing reagent use, labor.
