EVALUATION OF ASSOCIATION BETWEEN GROWTH PATTERNS AND MALOCCLUSION WITH ABO BLOOD GROUPING SYSTEM

Abstract :

Introduction– Correlation between growth patterns and malocclusion with blood groups will help in early diagnosis and intervention. Thus, providing successful treatment outcomes. Materials and methods: 86 subjects were randomly selected from the OPD of department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics (age–9–30 years). Standard pre–treatment records and medical documents with blood groups for each individual were noted. Individuals were divided into 03 groups on the basis of growth pattern, evaluated using Go–Gn – Hypodivergent <30�, Average– 30–34�, Hyperdivergent >34�. The malocclusion was evaluated with the help of ANB– Class III– <1�, Class I– 2�–3�, Class II– >4�. Results: It was observed that A+ve blood groups (24.42%) show hypodivergent growth pattern, B+ve blood group (20.93%) show hyperdivergent growth pattern. Prevalence of malocclusion in specific blood group showed that B+ve, A+ve, O+ve have highest incidence of malocclusion respectively.
