Abstract :

Angiogenesis is the new growth in vascular network which is essential for cell proliferation. Since the proliferation, as well as metastatic spread, of cancer cells depends on an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients through blood supply, it is inevitable to ignore levels of expression of angiogenic factors that reflect the aggressiveness of tumor cells. Despite of procuring numerous antiangiogenic therapy to date as per the theoretical efficacy, antiangiogenic treatments have not proved beneficial in terms of long–term survival. Thus the present study demonstrate the efficacy of direct oral microscopy or also referred as colposcope which is an advanced, contemporary and non invasive technique for screening of premalignant and malignant lesions of oral cavity; preferably at pre–invasive stage. The early detection of premalignant lesions of the oral cavity allows for treatment that may be sufficiently early to prevent their progression to an invasive carcinoma thus improving both the survival rate and the quality of life.
