Abstract :
Pericardial cysts are rare congenital abnormalities with a reported incidence rate of 1/100,000 child birth. The most common locations of these cysts are middle mediastinum and at the right cardiophrenic angle. Pericardial cysts are usually asymptomatic unless a complication or rapid growth of cyst occurs. Diagnosis is generally made incidentally or using combined radiological and echocardiographic examination. Only with X–ray Chest, can be very easily confused with hydatid cyst of lung. Various forms of treatment can be done from simply observation to needle aspiration and surgical excision. Recurrence of the disease is common after needle aspiration and incomplete excision. Herein, we present a case of giant pericardial cyst affecting left cardiophrenic angle in a 50 yearold man presenting with an atypical left chest pain, exertional dyspnoeaand chronic cough. Finally, the patient was treated successfully by surgical excision.
