GLOBAL CHALLENGES IN TEACHER EDUCATION

Abstract :

India has the second largest system of schooling in the world. About 6 million school teachers are working in the country at different levels of schooling like pre–primary, primary, secondary schools, higher secondary school etc. In India not only in the school system but also in the social system as a catalyst of change and development throughout the preset system of Teacher Education in our Country, one can say without any fear of contradiction that it is in deep crisis. Teacher is the key factor of all mental, social and spiritual development of children. Mother is the first teacher of the child. She will be equipped with learning competencies; commitment and determination of perform at her best. Teacher is born not made. We need more teacher better teacher and commitment Teacher Education is the most powerful instrument whose effective use requires the strength of will dedicated work and sacrifice,. At present we are confronted with challenges of knowledge, explosion, revolutionary, charges in information and communication technology, value crisis, social religious conflicts and tension etc. An important component of globalization in relation to education is the need for producing higher quality manpower that can successfully face the completion in the world. The article is focused towards global challenges in Teacher Education. This paper inform about views of Teacher Education regarding globalization and its challenges. For this purpose the researcher conducted survey in Teacher Education Institutions. Teachers quality, knowledge of technology, curriculum are the important challenges faced by teacher education in the context of globalization.
