Abstract :

Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma of bone is a rare tumor of vascular origin with borderline malignancy and pursues a clinical course intermediate between hemangioma and an angiosarcoma. Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma has been reported more commonly in soft tissues and viscera involving lungs and liver but less so in bones. The tumor is usually multicentric with a predilection for bones of a particular anatomical area. We describe a case of multicentric Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma of right hand. Roentgenographs revealed multiple lytic lesions involving the metacarpals and phalanges with impending pathological fracture. Histologically the tumor exhibited cords of epithelioid-appeå cells in a myxoid stroma and inflammatory cells with few mitotic figures. The patient was treated with primary surgical resection, curettage, bone grafting and K-wire fixation. Follow-up x-rays revealed good consolidation of bone graft with no signs of local recurrence.
