Maanasa Bhaskar M, Jharna Mandal

Abstract :

Urinary tract infections are one of the most common infections caused by Enterococci. However, some aspects of Enterococci as a uropathogen remains unclear. Current review article explores the various aspects of Enterococci as uropathogen in view of the increasing importance of Enterococci causing urinary tract infections, their multi drug resistant phenotype and lack of pertinent data regarding the same. In this review, after thorough literature search we have tried to summarize the various virulence factors of Enterococci implicated in causing UTI and other aspects such as reporting and management of Enterococcal UTI in various clinical settings.
