Abstract :

Closed spinal dysraphism is defective fusion of the midline neural, bony and mesenchymal structures with a skin covering. It is one of the most common congenital disorders associated with morbidity and mortality with estimated incidence of approximately 0.05 to 0.25 per 1000 births. In our study, we retrospectively analyzed 30 patients with closed spinal dysraphism and categorized them according to their characteristic features. Closed spinal dysraphism was found more commonly in females than males, and also in our study diastometamyelia was the most common abnormality and tethered cord syndrome, the least common among them.
