India–Bangladesh Cattle Smuggling – Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract :

South Asia is the Southern region of the Asian continent which comprises the sub-Himalayan countries; includes the adjoining countries on the west and east. India and Bangladesh share ties of blood, culture, history, language and geography. In spite of the close relationship, ties between the two countries have remained challenging. The problems of each of the Indian States’ border areas with Bangladesh are directly dependent on the physical nature of the terrain. There are many challenges facing the two countries are river water shå, trade and transit, illegal migration and border management. The most important source of tension has been violence on the border. There is need to ing peace and tranquility to the border, success has been elusive. One of the reasons for this failure is the disinterest shown by both India and Bangladesh in tackling the problem of rampant cattle smuggling which has made the Indo-Bang
