Is Total Thyroidectomy safe: Our experience of Thyroid Surgery

Abstract :

A retrospective analysis of 221 cases of various thyroid disorders treated atRajindra Hospital were included in this study from 2005 to 2014.The aim was to evaluate the various complications which happened.The objective of this article is to share our experience of safety of total thyroidectomyfor benign multinodular goiter that was proven by retrospective evaluation of complications.All patients underwent either total or hemithyroidectomy depending upon their diagnosis and patients were closely followed up for postoperative complications especially in terms of hemorrhage, recurrent laryngeal nerve damage and hypocalcaemia.
