Isolation and Charecterization of Cellulolytic Bacteria From Soil Polluted with Paper Industry Effluents
S Satya Vishala, , K Ravi Chandra, V Sridevi
Abstract :
Paper industry effluents are rich in cellulosic wastes and thus harbour a wide range of cellulolytic micro flora. The present study was focused on Isolation, screening and identification of cellulolytic bacteria from soils contaminated with paper industry effluents, and to evaluate their cellulolytic potential on different cellulosic substrates. Cellulose degrading bacteria were isolated by serial dilution and spread plate method on selective media. Two types of cellulolytic bacterial colonies were identified on CMC based on hydrolytic zones and were denoted as Y1 and Y2. Later these were identified as pseudomonas sp. basing on their staining, morphological and biochemical charecterization.
