Listeria monocytogenes infection in a case of suspected Tubercular meningitis patient a Case report

Abstract :

  Human listerosis usually presents as bacteremia or meningitis. Infants and immunosupressed people are the most affected. We report a case of meningitis caused by Listeria monocytogenes in a 65year–old male presenting with chonic meningitis.Based on the symptoms an intial diagnosis of tubercular meningitis was made. Subsequently,Listeria monocytogenes was isolated from the cereospinal fluid (CSF) and subsequent treatment with ampicillin was intiated but the patient died the next day after treatment was started .Since there is a no of reports of Listeria in this part of the region so, this case is reported
