Market Sensitivity of the IT stocks : A comparison of the pre and post recessionary period

Abstract :

The global economy suffered from a significant meltdown consequent on the origination of the sub-prime crisis in the U.S economy during 2008-09 and the recessionary phase in the global and Indian economy begins. The Indian IT sector was most adversely affected because of the recession. In this backdrop the present paper compares the sensitivity of the market prices (relative to the BSE Sensex) of some of the major IT companies operating in India both for the pre and post -recession period.
