Abstract :
Objective : To study the pattern of patient reported outcomes regarding improvement of nasal obstruction using N.O.S.E. score survey following ESPIT. Study design : Prospective longitudinal cohort. Methods : Adult patients (>18 yrs) complains of nasal obstruction due to hypertrophied obstructive inferior turbinate underwent ESPIT by single surgeon at a tertiary care hospital were selected for study, NOSE scores recorded preoperative & postoperatively at the end of 3 wks (21 days), 6 wks (42 days) and 6 months (180 days). Result : A total of 58 patients were chosen according to inclusion criteria. For the total study population mean N.O.S.E score significantly improved between preoperative and early postoperative follow–up (76.2, SE ± 2.4 vs 23.1, SE ± 2.8; p<0.001) but did not significantly change between 1st (early) and 2nd (intermediate) or between 2nd (intermediate) and 3rd (late follow–ups (p>0.999). Conclusion : Patient with nasal obstruction due to hypertrophied obstructive interior turbinate who underwent ESPIT reported significant improvement, in nasal obstruction at 3 wks (21 days) Postoperative follow–up. And further follow up at 6 wks (42 days) & 6 months (180 days) shows sustained and long standing benefit after surgery. Level of evidence : 2C
