Abstract :
Situs inversus is a condition in which the heart is on the right side of the midline. It is also termed as the mirror image dextrocardia. The liver and the gall bladder are on the left side. The patients are usually asymptomatic. There is no racial predilection and both sexes are equally affected. The recognition of situs inversus is important for preventing surgical mishaps that result from the failure to recognize the reversed anatomy. Mostly it is detected due to cholelithiasis or appendicitis.
