Abstract :

Objective:

This study examine the patients‘ awareness and perception about the role of FP in Al–Ahsa PHC centers.

Method:

A questionnaire–based cross–sectional survey was conducted at FM consultation clinics. Systematic randomized sampling technique was used during data collection, confidentiality was maintained, and written informed consent was taken. SPSS computer software used for data management.

Results:

340 patients visiting FM consultation Clinics were interviewed, of which (52.4%) were women, and (47.6 %) were men.

Our results suggesting that the participants had very less awareness regarding the role of FPs. Only 42.1 % (143) had good awareness, and 57.9 % (197) had poor awareness. Only 43.8% (149) had a good perception of the FM, and 56.2% (191) had a poor perception of the concept of FM.

Conclusion: It is recommended that programs emphasizing role of FM should be started for the public
