PENDULUM APPLIANCE AND K-LOOP COMBINATION FOR MOLAR DISTALIZATION: A CASE REPORT

Abdul Baais Akhoon, Mohammad Mushtaq

Abstract :

Molar distalization is used to treat most Class II malocclusions with non–extraction by using extraoral and intraoral appliances. Extraoral traction is effective but it depends on patient cooperation. This has led to the use of intraoral appliances. However, they too have drawbacks like molar tipping and loss of anchorage. This case report is about a 14 year old patient with Class II malocclusion having good facial balance and treated with non–extraction by using pendulum appliance on the palatal side and Kalra’s K–loop on the buccal side. It can be concluded that Class I molar and canine relation was achieved faster with pendulum K–loop combination and showed a controlled molar distalization.
