Abstract :

Background: Various treatment modalities are developed for Pilonidal sinus disease till date, including non–operative management to surgical management including various flap reconstructions. While excision and primary closures have certain advantages, including shorter surgical time and shorter hospitalization time, flap methods are expected to have lower recurrence rates. Objective: To ascertain the role of Limberg Flap (LF) method in achieving low recurrence against simple closure method Method: Randomized Comparative Study of 60 patients Results: The group of 30 patients who underwent Limberg flap technique had Less recurrence, Less postoperative pain and Early return to work ,when compared to the other group of 30 patients who were treated by simple closure. Conclusion: Limberg Flap reconstruction is more effective and more comfortable to the patient than simple excision with primary midline closure in pilonidal sinus disease.
