Plant Variety Protection in IndiaThe Issues and Challenges

Abstract :
Intellectual property protection for plant innovation was a challenge for India. But the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Act, 2001 in consistency with the WTO standards has rightly addressed the issues and challenges pertaining to the farmers and plant eeders. The unique scheme of protection and benefit shå is widely appreciated to be of progressive nature. This model law serves to a viable and potential source of inspiration for other similarly placed countries of the world.
