It is a potentially life–threatening condition in which periodic cessation of eathing occurs during sleep in the presence of inspiratory effort. This affects not only the quality of life but also has a significant morbidity.

Results: Butt type of soft palate was common in sleep apnoea patient while leaf type was more common in normal population. High BMI index were commonly seen with butt type of soft palate in apnoea patients.
