Abstract :

Background: Stem cells are becoming an important biological material in regenerative dentistry. Due to the easy accessibility, dental stem cells have been received much attention in the development of treatments strategies for tooth regeneration. We studied the osteogenic differentiation marker gene expression in Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and stem cells from periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) that are isolated from deciduous teeth and permanent teeth. Material and Methods: Bothe DPSCs and PDLSCs were isolated from deciduous teeth and permanent teeth and compared the differentiation gene expression pattern between deciduous and permanent teeth. Results: Gene expression pattern was significantly differed between stem cells derived from deciduous teeth and stem cells derived from permanent teeth. Conclusions: Our study suggest that dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) isolated from deciduous teeth have exhibited elevated osteogenic differentiation marker gene expression compared to stem cells isolated from permanent teeth.
