Self Concept of Collge Students

Abstract :

Self-concept is a non-intellectual factor which is often linked with achievement in a subject. The international Encyclopedia of Education chosen and post lethality (1985) defines self-concept as “The experience of one’s own being. The importance of self-concept in academic achievement has been recognized for many years. Self-concept evolves form a combination of (1) the feedback that the child receives from others including peers, paints, and teachers and (2) the evolution of his/her experiences. It is important to study the self concept of the children in our school and colleges. The most significant single distinguishing characteristic of a person in good mental health is his favorable self concept. Self concept implies a person’s perception or views of himself. Self concept is what the individual thinks of his actual self. It is me. Some psychologists refer to it as personal feeling, behavioral feeling, life space, or psychological field. Self concept plays an important role in the development of personality of an individual.
