Dr. Shama Shishodia, Dr. Udit Narayan

Abstract :

Aim: We conducted a systematic review to identify the clinical course of SARS CoV2 in pregnant women and formulate the management guidelines. Method: We searched PubMed, Cochrane Liary, Science Direct, and Scopus using the combination of Covid–19, 2019–nCoV, novel coronavirus, SARS–CoV–2 and Pregnancy, pregnant, vertical transmission and maternal infection as the keywords. Appropriate studies were extracted according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: After scrutiny of all the articles and excluding duplicate studies, in the press and pre–proof articles, twenty–six studies were included in our review. We included systematic review & metanalysis, prospective and retrospective studies, case reports, expert comments, relevant news articles, and personal experiences. Conclusion: Pregnancy is a high–risk condition for viral infections including COVID–19 although, the risk of vertical transmission seems to be minimal with less severe clinical course. However, high–quality evidence is lacking for confirming or condemn this fact along with establishment of evidence–based management guidelines.
