Abstract :

Soccer is considered as the vehicle for developing everyday life skills such as the coordinative abilities which are required in everyday life. This ability enables the control of motor actions. An important component of coordinative skills is the balance which is responsible for the protection of injuries, and improvement of technical ability. It has been found that soccer develops the balance of the players. However, practice sessions do not include specialized balance training. The aim of the current study was to examine if soccer practice through small-sided games improve the balance of young players. The results indicated a significant improvement of both the right and left foot balance (p< .005). Furthermore, the study concluded a tendency for better balance for players with low levels of height, weight, and high rates of vertical jump.
