Abstract :

Small and large intestines are prone for both non–neoplastic and neoplastic lesions such as infections, various inflammatory conditions and neoplasms . Among intestinal tumors, colorectal cancer is the third most common in men and second in women. Aims and Objectives: To study histomorphology and clinicopathological correlation of non neoplastic & neoplastic lesions . Materials and Methods: The present study of 121 cases was carried out from Oct 2017 to Sept 2019. Detailed examination was done and cases were analysed. Results: Maximum number of cases were found in the age group of 61–70yrs(23.14%) with male predominance. Most common clinical presentation was pain in abdomen(67.77%). Neoplastic lesions were more common in large intestine while non–neoplastic lesions were common in small intestine and Anal canal. Conclusion: Biopsies from suspected lesions help in early diagnosis while the extent of disease and assessment of prognosis can be made from the histopathological study of resected specimens.
