Abstract :

This was a prospective study conducted in the Postgraduate Department of Pathology, ASCOMS Sidhra, Jammu over a period of one year. The aims of this study were to study the various morphological types of anaemia in patients of rheumatoid arthritis and also to study the correlation between serum ferritin and bone marrow iron stores in these patients. It was inferred from the study that the normocytic normochromic anaemia (76.5%) was the most common morphological type of anaemia in the study group and that there existed a positive correlation (point biserial correlation coefficient = 0.539, p=0.001) between serum ferritin and bone marrow iron stores in the study subjects
