The Analysis of Skin Prick Test results to mold allergens in some patients suffering from nasobronchial allergy in Kolkata Metropolitan.

Abstract :

Background: Nasoonchial allergy has been increasing from last two or three decades in different countries and different parts of India including Kolkata due to its changing environmental condition. Objective: To investigate the skin test reactivity of the patients towards the common mold allergens of Kolkata. Materials and Methods: Skin prick tests with 8 mold allergens were performed on 187 patients including 105 male and 82 female patients. Student–t test was done for statistical analysis. Result: Highest response is towards Aspergillus fumigates followed by Alterneria alternate, Aspergillus niger, Penicilium sp., Aspergillus tamari, Cladosporium sp., Candida albicans (4.28%) and Fusarium sp. Sensitivity between male and female patients are statistically significant. Conclusion: Common mold allergens in both male and female patients were documented with positive skin prick test response which may be useful during treatment of the nasoonchial allergic patients of Kolkata.
