Abstract :

Anemia long has been recognized as a major public health problem affecting about 10% of the population in developed countries and 25–50% in developing countries (1). The most common type of anemia encountered is iron deficiency anemia and its distribution is worldwide. It is estimated that 30% of the global population suffers from IDA; most of those affected live in developing countries(2,3)

Due to exclusive inclusion of milk in the first year of life, the amount of iron required is not met by dietary sources. The current study has been undertaken as a randomized, controlled clinical trial, to study the impact of delayed cord clamping in the newborn and infant in relation to both short come and long term outcomes.
