Abstract :

INTRODUCTION : Day to day advances in technology have made treatment of urolithiaisis less and less invasive with decreasing morbidity. PCNL has changed the approach to large and complex renal stone. AIM: To compare safety, effectiveness, feasibility and advantages of tubeless PCNL with standard PCNL. MATERIAL AND METHODS : The study was conducted in the department of surgery, S.N. MEDICAL COLLEGE, AGRA (UP) between March 2014 to April 2015. Patients suffering from renal stone disease admitted in Hospital undergoing PCNL were included as study population. Out of thirty patients fifteen patients underwent Tubeless PCNL and fifteen underwent standard PCNL DISCUSSION : Tubeless PCNL and Standard PCNL was compared on the basis of operative time, hospital stay, post operative analgesia requirement, fever, urinoma, haematoma formation, and haematuria. CONCLUSION : Tubeless PCNL is effective for managing renal calculi with comparable operative time, hospital stay, post operative analgesia requirement, fever, urinoma, haematoma formation, and haematuria to standard PCNL.
