Abstract :

Aims: To evaluate efficacy, safety & tolerability of bevacizumab (1.25mg/0.05ml) in diabetic macular edema & compare the results of intravitreal bevacizumab in diabetic macular edema with that of laser therapy.

Materials & Methods: This prospective, interventional, randomized, comaparative study was conducted on 40 patients with diabetic macular edema, divided into Group A and Group B consisting of 20 patients each. The patients were treated with modified macular grid photocoagulation or intravitreal  bevacizumab in group A and group B respectively.

Results & analysis:

Conclusion: The anatomic and functional improvement in both groups was statistically significant from baseline to end of study but there was no significant difference between groups. Our results also show that bevacizumab was well tolerated and no ocular & systemic adverse events were noticed during the study
