Abstract :

Aims : To evaluate correlation of organomegaly with levels of various biochemical parameters i.e. Hb, SGOT/ PT Serum alkaline Phosphatase, Blood Urea, Serum Creatinine, Absolute Plate Count of patients of malaria. Material & Methods : This study was cross sectional study. All the feile as well as non feile patients PV/PF positive status were enrolled for the study. The patients attending both indoor as well as outdoor clinic were enrolled. P. vivax and P. falciparum status were diagnosed by either PBF smear or rapid diagnostic cord test or both. Results: ultrasinography finding of mild hepatomegaly shows mild increase in bilrubin and liver enzymes while moderate hepatomegaly shows modest incerese in bilrubin. Thrombocytopenia was similarly related to spleenomegaly. Conclusions: In present study we observed size of liver was proportional to the level of serum bilirubin and liver enzymes (SGOT/ SGPT). Size of spleen is directly proportional to level of platelet count.
