Ultrasound evaluation of Peyronie‘s disease.

Abstract :

Introduction: Peyronie’s disease is a condition in which there is formation of fious tissue plaques form under the skin of the penis, causing painful deformity and shortening of the penis. Peyronie’s disease is the most common cause of painful penile induration. These plaques can cause deviation of penis and painful erection. The plaques can be felt through the skin on palpation of the penis. Aims: To study the role of ultrasound in Peyronie’s Disease. Material and methods: Ultrasound was done in 12 patients with clinical suspicion of Peyronie’s Disease. Ultrasound is used as the primary imaging modality of choice. It is easily available, has low risk and we can visualize both calcified and soft tissue components of Peyronie’s Disease. Results: Ultrasound helps better in identification of smaller and non–palpable lesions, plaques and calcification. It also helps in confirmation of clinical suspicion.
