Dr. A. Madhu Mitha, Dr. Rahul Manchanda, Dr. Preeti Yadav

Abstract :

Minimally invasive technology has revolutionalised the surgical approaches in the current century. Energy sources form a vital part of laparoscopic surgeries in achieving hemostasis and  providing bloodless field to operate. The most common energy–based vessel sealing technologies are based on bipolar (BP) and ultrasonic (US) technology or both. An ideal vessel sealing device produces minimal thermal spread, is effective on vessels ≤7 mm in diameter, works quickly, produces consistent results, and can be used multiple time .The purpose of this study is to review the available literature and  compare the safety ,utility ,reliability ,usage and efficacy of the available vessel sealing technologies.
