Women Empowerment: Challenges and Strategies for development of Society

Abstract :

 The present paper explores the questions central to women’s right in India that is fundamentally patriarchal in nature. in India women are majorly deprived of their fundamental right to dignity.United Nation has itself declared ‘Gender Equality and Women Empowerment’ as one of the important goals to be achieved till 2015. The underlying assumption was that if women understood their conditions, knew their rights and learned skills traditionally denied to them, empowerment would follow. We can’t neglect the importance of education in reference to women empowerment in India because it enables them to responds to the challenges, to confront their traditional role and change their life. The objective of the paper is to explore ways and means of operationalizing the term "empowerment.”
